It’s Easy Being Green

It's-Easy-Being-Green

Timbers Resorts takes green measures at our properties from the initial phases of design and construction – where green building practices are a priority – all the way through to outfitting residences with stylish and reusable grocery bags that Owners and guests can tote to the farmers’ market and on errands around town.

An underlying philosophy when it comes to the care and attention that goes into our luxury real estate settings is keeping the environment front of mind. Without this approach, no Timbers Resorts location would match the high standards of the people who design, build, operate — and, yes, residewith us. Each of our vacation and residence sites is catered to the ideals of sustainable-minded development and lifestyle including two properties noted below:

The Preserve at Botany Bay

When it comes to the environment, perhaps no location displays the riches of its natural surroundings more prominently than the U.S. Virgin Islands. Among these, The Preserve at Botany Bay on St. Thomas is a jewel of not only coastal landscape and plant life,  but also of history and cultural legacy.  Timbers Resorts has, since its inception, been dedicated to protecting the Botany Bay estate, which means:

— Erosion and Sediment Control: The bay is a delicate balance. From the point of construction on, Botany Bay ensures the pristine beaches and coastlines are sheltered from degradation.

— Historic Caretaking: Not only is there evidence of prehistoric rock drawings and village life, the area surrounding Botany Bay is replete with historical structures hearkening back to the island’s plantation days. Protecting all of these details is a crucial part of keeping the West End of St. Thomas special.

— Reef Awareness: The sensitive parts of Botany Bay are not only above water. Our architects, staff, and Owners also know that the reefs under its waters are in need of protection. And so, every step of development and subsequent use has borne this in mind.

One Steamboat Place

The slopes of Colorado ski-country are prized for their clean air, brilliant skies, and gorgeous warm-weather streamscapes and hiking trails. Timbers Resorts takes care of this environment in various ways at One Steamboat Place such as:

— Carbon Footprint Control: One Steamboat Plans offsets 100% of its electricity use by wind energy credits. Subsidizing clean and renewable energy means mitigating our carbon footprint. Everyone benefits from that.

— On-Site Energy Efficiency: From water-conserving features to energy-sipping interior lighting, each unit is built to minimize its impact upon the environment.

— Green Materials: From the finishing touches in our residences, to the landscaping outside, our Owners can rest assured that recyclable and environmentally sensitive materials are the rule at One Steamboat Place.

As noted above, all of our properties, we heartily endorse community programs that seek to better the environment such as the May 1, 2012, plastic bag ban in effect throughout Aspen, Colorado, home to Dancing Bear Aspen and The Timbers Club. Owners already have resusable bags in their residences and follow this practice with every trip to the market or around town. Other Colorado ski towns are seeking to implement this same rule including Steamboat and Vail, where One Steamboat Place and The Sebastian – Vail also follow suit.

So, with a focus on protecting and preserving our surroundings, one can see that is in fact easy being green.
