Does your mouth crave a hint of tannin with elderberry? Whether you consider yourself a serious connoisseur of fine wines or you just love to kick back and enjoy a smooth glass of Pinot Noir, then you’ll want to experience Block 16’s series of Vintners’ Dinners, which began at The Sebastian in Vail this month. For the introductory event, we invited Bryan Page of Napa Valley’s Page Wine Cellars as the first guest winemaker. Block 16’s namesake wine is produced by Page Wine Cellars and was served with the second entrée of the evening.
Guests arrived between 6:30 and 7 pm for a reception with hors d’oeuvres and Champagne in the dining room. Maitre d’ Gary Obligacion invited all to take their seats for the three-course dinner paired with Page wines. In between each course, Bryan spoke about the pairings, sharing insights into their production, and described why they’d been selected for the evening. He also talked a bit about the passion and inspiration his family has for the wine business. Following the final course, Gary invited the culinary team to come out from the kitchen and take a bow alongside the waitstaff who together had offered not only incredible food and wine but also fantastic hospitality all evening. Dinner attendees gave the entire team a standing ovation.
**Also, be sure to save the date for a special Vintners’ Dinner on Wednesday 04/06 during The Taste of Vail.
